Samuel Milner (b 1853) was a Professional Shorthand Writer practicing principally in Law Courts. Samuel and Amelia had fourteen children, five of whom were at home at the 1911 census. Owen, the second youngest, born in 1895 joined his father's profession. Owen served with the 16th Lancashire Fusiliers and reached the rank of Colour Sergeant. With Samuel and Amelia dying in 1911 and 1918 respectively, the house was sold and by 1921 Owen was married and living in Chorlton.
