2023 October 31st - Purchased on ebay an old photo album that came from the Milner family who lived at Ash Villa (now Dacre House) at the top of Faulkner's Lane. Photos were taken between 1913 and early 1920s and feature members of family and friends locally and on days out, and in particular Owne Milner's service in WW1. Selected photos included in a new Milner page within the tab (More..) titled People and Families.

2023 May 1st - I have put this on Facebook and in the Parish Council newsletter but I'd like to establish the demand for a reprint of the 2014 booklet which over 75 pages provided a profile for all those who served in WW1 with a Mobberley connection. Over the 9 years since then there have been additions including those who died in WW2, corrections and several gaps have been filled thanks to the availability of the 1921 census. A smaller print run might end up with a cost of around £13 plus postage for anyone not close to Mobberley. The booklet is now 130 pages. Please use the contact form if you want to be added to the list.
2023 March 11th - The Alderley and Wilmslow Advertisers are available on the British Newspaper Archive. In September 1908, each week running through to Spring in 1909, Herbert Hulme, the organist at St Wilfrid's writing under the pseudonym Cedric II wrote and article under the heading "Old Mobberley". I have gone through them and listed what he was writing about each week and posted it in the Historic Documents tab. Fascinating information about families, houses, traditions and customs.

2019 June 26th - WW2 page now includes information about evacuees from the school log books and the admission registers. There were unofficlal evacuees where families took in relatives from Manchester in September 1939. The official evacuees arrived from St Bride's School Old Trafford and Stretford Road School. They continued to be the responsibility of the relevant authority and not transferred to the Mobberley Primary School books. Then in July 1944 32 children arrived from South London due to the threat from Flying Bombs.
2019 May 6th - Page added (see more/links) for the 1939 Register. This was taken on the night of 29th September 1939 to enable the government to organise ID cards, rationing and conscription. It is redacted for records where death has not been confirmed. it continued to be used by the NHS until paper records ceased in 1991. As a result the records include subsequent name changes due to marriage and remarriage.
Operation Pied Piper (the evacuation of children from Manchester, London and elsewhere) commenced on 1st September 1939. Mobberley received children from Stretford Road School and St Bride's Manchester and it is clear that many households were involved in looking after one or two children who were then taught at Mobberley Primary School, initially by their own teachers (in the afternoon, with Mobberley children being taught in the morning) but later on absorbed into single classes. I have transcribed the information as best I can interpreting the handwriting and a link to a 20 page pdf report is included.
