BROAD OAK LANE AND KNUTSFORD ROAD (WEST). The Broad Oak stood opposite the farm but was burnt down when in 1910 a fire was started in its hollow trunk to evict the rats. Oak Tree Farm, pictured below, is now the home of Limited Editions Antiques. The farm was split by the building of the 'by-pass' in the 1960s. Before then the route from Knutsford used the old lane via Ryecroft to the junction with Broad Oak Lane, before the Town Lane service road existed. Broad Oak Farm, Park Farm, Parkside Farm and Kell House Farm and several of the cottages on Broad Oak Lane are owned by Tatton Estates and identifiable by the marroon paint scheme
In 1971 The council wrote to the local authority to request that the unnamed road created by the new road that separated Oak Tree Farm from its fields be named Ryecroft Lane
